Itinerary

DAY 1Fez - Midelt - Merzouga

You will have your breakfast at the Fez hotel, and then the driver (who speaks English) will take you at 7 AM in the winter and 8 AM in the summer. Then the amazing Fes to Marrakech desert tour will take you to the Cedar Forests in the Middle Atlas Mountains. In order to get there you will get over the Saiss plains, you will also visit Azrou and Ifran too. There’s even the option to see some Barbary apes here and there, mainly near the street.

Then you go to Midelt and there you will take your lunch. Right after that you go to the Ziz river and you can see the amazing palm trees in the region. As you reach Erfoud, you will also find a variety of fortified Kashbahs too, which is very exciting and interesting as well. From there you go to Erg Chebbi and Merzouga, here you will have a camel ride during the sunset. You get to see the sunset on a camel, it can’t really get any better than this.

Once that’s done you will get to the Sahara desert camp and you can easily prepare yourself for dinner while enjoying nomads playing the drums. That’s where you will spend the night.

DAY 2Merzouga - Desert Adventure and Camel Trekking.

There’s a dedicated early sunrise camel ride, and then you go to Merzouga to meet the guide. Today the experience will focus on visiting the amazing Tinghir oasis and here you can explore the berber villages and the Todgha river, among many others. You have the opportunity to learn about the locals and you even get to see the really impressive Todgha canyons. This is also where you will take your lunch. After that you will take the road to the Dades Valley. Here you can see even more fortified Kashbahs and then you stay overnight in the valley at a boutique guest house.

DAY 3Merzouga - Draa Valley - Ouarzazate - Marrakech

For the last day, you will go through the Valley of the Roses. The idea here is to reach Kalaa Mgouna. Here you can explore the Rose water cooperatives, you can also check how the locals are preparing rose water perfumes. Once that is done you get further from the Skoura oasis and reach Ouarzazate, which is very popular for the date palm trees. You will also visit Kashbah Air Ben Haddou, here you will have lunch before you can visit the location itself. It’s a stunning place where numerous movies were shot. The kashbah here looks amazing and despite feeling like a single one, it’s a combination of multiple kashbahs.

For the afternoon, the program is to go through the Tizi Ntichka Pass and exploring some berber villages with homes made out of mud and stones. It’s nice to see that in many ways life is still the same there. After that, you get to Marrakech, at the end of the tour right at your hotel. This is an amazing Fes to Marrakech desert tour experience you do not want to miss!
